United Way of the Lower Mainland officially launched the 2011 fundraising campaign to help vulnerable children, families and older people throughout the region.

Dollars raised improve lives and strengthen communities. The 2011 fundraising goal is $30.2 million.

The City of Vancouver has proclaimed September 7, United Way Day.

Food, fun and the flame: On Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, people gathered at Jack Poole Plaza to launch the 2011 United Way of the Lower Mainland Annual Campaign.

About 1,500 people joined hosts, Mark Madryga, Senior Meteorologist, Global News and Nat and Drew, hosts of Breakfast with Nat and Drew, Virgin Radio, to party with a purpose, with music by Dr. Strangelove.
