As many of you have heard, CBC recently released an special investigative report on the cost of fundraising. The investigation, released yesterday, focuses on the use of external fundraisers (i.e. telemarketing companies) and some of these cases, the cost of raising funds is upwards of 80%.
This recent uncovering has resulted in many questions from our donors and supporters. In the interest of ensuring that you are aware and prepared to talk about this should you be asked, we wanted to provide details of United Way’s costs and fundraising practices.
