Response to CBC Investigation

As many of you have heard, CBC recently released an special investigative report on the cost of fundraising. The investigation, released yesterday, focuses on the use of external fundraisers (i.e. telemarketing companies) and some of these cases, the cost of raising funds is upwards of 80%. This recent uncovering has resulted in many questions from our donors and supporters. In the interest of ensuring that you are aware and prepared to talk about this should you be asked, we wanted to provide details of United Way’s costs and fundraising practices.

One in four Grade 4 children in Vancouver are not happy: study

A quarter of Grade 4 public school children in Vancouver say that they are not doing well in overall health and well-being. The finding is included in a new study, the result of a research partnership between the Vancouver School Board, United Way of the Lower Mainland, and the University of British Columbia’s (UBC) Human Early Learning Partnership (HELP).
